I will always remember though, what my old master said to me one day, “While you’re smoking weed, someone is running miles. While you’re playing video games, someone is practicing Kata. While you’re hanging out in the street with your friends someone is doing push ups. And when you and this person meet, he’s going to fuckin’ destroy you.” So while you’re reading this we’re doing push ups, running miles and practicing. See you soon.” Immortal Technique

Check out the Audio Mack link below to listen to and download a couple songs from Obie Trice’s new album, Hangover, which is releasing this October on his own independent record label, Black Market Entertainment via InGrooves/Fontana. After a long stay at fellow Detroit rapper Eminem’s Shady Records, Obie launched Black Market Entertainment in 2010. I’m hearing that Obie and Eminem will have a song together on the new album amongst some other highly anticipated features.

@TechN9ne Sets Out On “Independent Powerhouse Tour 2013” March 15th

Posted on 12 March 2013 by admin

Last month, MTV aired Tech N9ne’s Hostile Takeover: The Story Behind The Tour, a 30-minute tour special that gives an in-depth look at what went in to pulling off the most challenging tour in rap history. After embarking on this year’s record setting “Hostile Takeover” tour and then following up with back-to-back runs in Canada and Europe, Tech N9ne has announced that he will be headlining the “Independent Powerhouse Tour 2013.” The hard-hitting rapper will be joined on the tour by his Strange Music labelmates: gold recording artist Brotha Lynch Hung, Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, along with newcomers Rittz and Ces Cru.

“I’m very excited to tour with the guys on the roster. I’ve always wanted to take Ces Cru out. I admire what Rittz does on stage and everybody’s been asking about Lynch on every tour. It’s also great to have Kutt Calhoun back on the road with us. I can’t wait for the Independent Powerhouse Tour. I wish it started today and so does Krizz Kaliko!” Say Tech

In addition, Tech N9ne has also been confirmed to perform at the 2013 Paid Dues Festival in San Bernadino, CA on March 30. Tech will share the stage with De La Soul, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Immortal Technique, Hopsin and festival headliners, Black Hippy, whose members include Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Strange Music recording artist, Jay Rock.

Each artist on the Independent Powerhouse Tour 2013 will release at least one project on Strange Music during the duration of this tour. Headliner Tech N9ne is putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming studio album, Something Else, releasing in May 2013. Brotha Lynch Hung’s Mannibalector, the third and final installment of his historic album trilogy, is due in stores February 5, 2013. Strange Music stalwarts Krizz Kaliko and Kutt Calhoun will each add another project to their prolific recording catalogs, while Rittz and Ces Cru will be releasing their respective debut Strange Music albums in 2013, as well.

Mongolian Bling – Mongolian hip hop comes to North America March 3rd

Mongolian Bling – Mongolian hip hop comes to North America March 3rd

Posted on 26 February 2013 by admin

First Show in New York: Sun, March 3rd Loews Village VII, 9:00 PM 66 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10003 and many more to follow across the U.S.

The feature length documentary delves into traditions, history, western influence, music, culture and the search for identity of the country’s youth. In essence, it asks, “What does it mean to be Mongolian in the 21st Century?”

The question is explored through the personal stories of three Mongolian rappers:

Gennie, the country’s first female rapper who is eager to create her debut album

Quiza, a rap superstar who is blending traditional music with hip hop

Gee, an emerging gangster rapper from the slums of the capital, Ulaanbaatar

Along the way we meet a colourful supporting cast including a shaman, a music professor, traditional musicians, a retired Socialist government music censor and Mongolians living both rural and urbanised lives. Together they paint a picture of modern Mongolia and the role that hip hop and western influences are having on their ancient culture.

“Hip hop is the voice of the country’s youth and it’s such a great way of telling the story of modern Mongolia,” says the film’s writer and director, Benj Binks. “There’s definitely a parallel between modern hip hop and traditional Mongolian music and it’s been fascinating to learn about the world of Mongol Rap”.
